Who is Eligible? 
To qualify for funding from the Assistive Devices Program, you need to:

• Live in Ontario

• Have a valid Ontario Health Card

• Have a mobility concern that causes you to need a mobility aid (ie. walker)

What is the Assistive Devices Program (ADP)?
The Ontario government provides financial assistance for those who who need mobility aids. The program was created to help pay for the cost of personalized equipment or supplies. There are no financial requirements (such as being under a tier of income) to qualify for the program. It is based solely on the needs of the individual.

What is included in the program?
Those who are approved receive 75% of the cost of a mobility device. You can receive 100% of the cost covered if you have extended healthcare coverage or if you’re receiving benefits from Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Program or Assistance For Children With Severe Disabilities.

How to Get Started?

1. Call or email our clinic, we will schedule an in home or in the clinic visit for one of our ADP authorized physiotherapists to conduct an assessment ($120 cost). This will include a few small physical tests and a conversation about your needs. This cost is not covered by the government, but if you have private insurance this assessment might be fully or partially covered. 

2. Once we determine the best mobility device for you, we can begin the process of submitting the application to the government.

3. It can take the government up to 8 weeks to approve the application. 

4. After approval is granted, you may purchase your walker (if you buy the walker beforehand, you may be responsible for the full cost if your application does not get approved).

5. We will follow-up with another appointment to make sure the walker fits properly (free of charge).
